The National Homeland Defense Foundation annually hosts the National Security Innovation Competition -- a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)-focused, university student innovation competition that highlights ongoing research creating technologies and concepts that are potential solutions to national security capability needs. Open to US and Canadian universities, students enter innovation projects for initial review and the top ten projects are selected.  Student finalist teams travel to Colorado Springs to then make personal presentations in front of a national panel of judges representing a wide range of government and industry in the security, defense and first responder arena.  The top three finishers are awarded scholarship prizes. The intent is to inspire students to pursue STEM educations, highlight their research innovation, and provide a venue for rapid transition of cutting edge technologies into useable solutions for the national security user community.

The 2012 event is April 27, 2012, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs

Students can enter their research innovations on the Foundation's website at www.NHDF.org.  Industry and government sponsors are always welcome and can use the website for additional information or contact us at 719-577-9016 / 719-660-6762.
